About Us
The word Afternoon—here’s how we think of it: after lunch, you’re a little dreamy. You can’t wait to unplug. Your mind is open and wandering a bit. You are ready to do something creative you love, before sunset.
After visiting shops and boutiques found while wandering on our travels, we wanted to create a space that combined the best parts of these with our own style. Our small town was the ideal location—a place for creative people to find inspiration in a stimulating environment. We wanted to bring our favorite beautifully crafted products to people who like to make things themselves. Featuring quality objects with purpose, with an emphasis on small brands, produced locally whenever we can acquire them. This led to us founding Afternoon in 2025.
Our mission is to be the creative spark for opportunities to engage with and build community, and most importantly have fun. Our physical space is not only for selling, it is also a place to connect, learn, and socialize through the events we host at the shop.
The Founders
Julie and Kevin met at Massachusetts College of Art in the early nineties. Julie was a double major in Painting and Art History and Kevin was a Film major. After several moves, jobs, and grad school (Design for Kevin, Art History for Julie), we married, had two kids and adopted two dogs. Kevin works as a brand designer with 20+ years of experience of leading design projects and building brands. Julie loves being part of the artistic community in Williamstown, MA. She is a lifelong painter who has had works featured in several shows in the United States.
We moved to the Berkshires in Massachusetts with our two children in 2017 after having spent decades living in cities like Austin, Philadelphia, and Boston. We stayed because of the pace of life and beautiful surroundings. Here we found a creative and vibrant community of people who love to make and enjoy books, music, film, crafts, writing, and artmaking of all kinds
